A great way to keep up with breaking news in any field is to follow keyed-in people on Twitter. What's that you say? Last time you looked, "tweet" was the sound a bird makes and not a word used to describe incessant digital chatter? Well, time is moving on without you, my friend! Get on the bandwagon.

Twitter users broadcast their own ideas or links to interesting articles to those who have "subscribed" to their broadcasts (or "newsfeeds"). You see a scroll of tweets from those you've subscribed to, allowing you to pick up on whatever's interesting. And in the world of sustainable food, that's a lot.

The food universe on twitter features a diverse cast of characters: traditional ag people, corporate food players, sustainable food advocates, farmers and ranchers, policy wonks, scientists and, of course, foodies. As a reader of this blog, you'd probably enjoy what Care2 calls "real food advocates." Care2's list of 20 makes a good starter kit for a new tweeter (or is it a twit?). Follow them (and me! @k_m_g_food), then follow who they follow, and you'll never want for food-related news again.
