Avon PETA isn't the only one getting attention for their Super Bowl advertisements.  Avon is about to make history by advertising during the Super Bowl, and the star of the show is lesbian Dallas resident Daryn DeZengotita.

DeZengotita will be featured as part of Avon's global marketing campaign to lure new sales representatives.  Two years ago DeZengotita auditioned for her first commercial with Avon.  Two years later, she'll be on nearly 100 million television screens.  That's some pretty cool history-making there.  And how did her sexual orientation fit in to the picture, so to speak?

As the Dallas Voice reports, DeZengotita said her sexual orientation was never a problem when it came time for company officials to decide on roles for the commercial.  "It [her sexual orientation] has been the biggest non-issue, and they have shown absolutely no hesitation whatsoever in promoting me as the face of Avon around the world," she said.

You can check out the commercial here, or you can watch it on Sunday about thirty seconds after Jennifer Hudson sings the national anthem during the Super Bowl.  Oh, and does DeZengotita think her commercial is a big deal for the LGBT community?  You bet.

“I think it is kind of a big deal,” she said. “It shows that we [as LGBT people] really are everywhere. We are even the face of Avon.”
