A Correction

As much as I love food, I do not enoy eating crow. And I think that's what I'm having for lunch today. A few days ago, I wrote up the story of Percy Schmeiser. I had gotten the story from a speech Schmeiser gave in Canada that I heard on podcast. Schmeiser, if you do not know, is the Canadian farmer sued by Monsanto when their GM canola showed up on his property. The case went all the way to the Canadian Supreme Court. I believed what Percy said and perhaps filled in some of the gaps in his story with my own imagination. I didn't check other sources because I figured Percy would be telling his own story better than others could.

Well... I was wrong. Monsanto showed up on this blog and chided me for poor research and incorrect information. I took the post down and promised to gather up the facts and re-post once I had done so. I've done some checking around and it seems that the story as I posted it WAS incorrect, so I wanted to let everyone here know that it was, in case you read it.

What WAS the real story? Well, I haven't read the Canadian court documents. As of now, I'm getting my facts from somebody who did read them, but I'd still rather be a little bit conservative here and keep my mouth shut unless I know for sure what I'm talking about. My apologies for my failure to adequately check my facts before posting the first time around. To be honest, if what I've heard now is correct, the Schmeiser case is not really worth going into for us sustainable foodies, so I think I'm just going to move on from there instead of researching it further.
