Aid Worker Killed in Darfur

Looks like it's going to be all Darfur, all day here at Humanitarian Relief.  Starting with the worst news - an aid worker was shot and killed in Darfur yesterday.

Reuters reports that armed men invaded the house of Adam Khatir - a Sudanese working for the Fellowship for African Relief (FAR) - on Monday night, demanding a satellite phone.

According to Mark Simmons, the Sudan Country Director for FAR:

"They came to his house at 9pm on Monday and when they didn't find a phone there they shot him. He was shot dead."

The official statement from FAR is available here.

Khatir is the third aid worker killed in Darfur so far this year.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Khatir's family and colleagues.
