All Day Buffet Releases New York 100 List

All Day Buffet are one of the groups out there trying to demonstrate the connection between social entrepreneurship, creativity, art, and a new way of thinking about individual and societal value. They come out of an experience stuck between creative professionals in advertising and marketing on the one hand and nonprofit orgs on the other, and are trying to create a middle space.

I love their just released "New York 100" List. In their own words:

NEWYork100 highlights 100 of the most innovative, rule- breaking, model-changing ideas to come out of the Big Apple. Call it social innovation, intelligent capitalism, idealistic enterprise: We're curating and highlighting the most creative, resourceful, and innovative people, companies and movements in New York. All rebuilding the city better and brighter and recreating the way we understand the world. These 100 are just the beginning. After all, it is a big apple, so get ready to get full on good.

We're sick of the doom and gloom--the stories of revival coming out of this crisis need to be told too. So our goal is to give these changemakers and rebuilders as much exposure as possible. Help us spread the word by emailing the list, blogging it, digging it, stumbling it, and yelling it out their windows. The future is what we make of it. Help us create something amazing.

The categories in which they list things include social innovation, nonprofit, art & design, business, culture, environment, food, and technology. For people passionate about New York City, or even for those just interested in the growing conversation attempting to synthesize all the ways we act and create good in the world, it's a must read.

Some of the highlights for me include: the Slideluck Potshow, a "Non-profit organization devoted to building and strengthening community around food and art," the OZOlab, a "Leading innovation lab and business incubator that exists to identify, create, and market a new breed of sustainable businesses with mass consumer appeal," and of course, a column by rocker Andrew W.K. on how to live.
