Animal-Friendly Celebrations This Weekend

There are vegan, animal-friendly Thanksgiving celebrations happening all over the United States in the coming week, and some of them are happening this weekend. Check out the five pages of events at Gentle Thanksgiving and look to see if there's something happening in your area. Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary (the home of the turkeys you met earlier this week) is hosting one of these events, and Peaceful Prairie is hosting its annual Living at Thanksgiving celebration in Boulder on Sunday, but there are great gatherings happening in hundreds of other locations too. Check with the organizations before showing up though because some require advance registrations and may be sold out.

Also, some events may not be listed on this site, so if you don't see anything happening around you, be sure to double-check with your local vegetarian and animal rights organizations to find out what they may have planned. I, for one, will be spending Saturday evening enjoying faux turkey amaretto, sage dressing, grilled sweet potatoes, cranberry and tangerine salsa, and baked apples, among other goodies, at the Turkey-Free Thanksgiving feast in St. Louis.
