Chocolate rabbits; by GreencolanderA domesticated animal can't often be released to a happy life in the wild and even the cutest baby animals grow up into adult critters with behaviors that might not be welcome in your home.

The fact that so many cats and dogs live companionably with humans, even with our complicated and decidedly abnormal strictures, is astonishing. Few other creatures can learn to restrain themselves in a human enough fashion that they're tolerable in intimate quarters without constant caging.

So this weekend, if it occurs to you that a little bunny or chick would make a simply adorable Easter gift, think about the adult it will be for several years. If that thought doesn't sit well with you, please get a chocolate one, instead.

But fair trade chocolate, yeah? Because that's one of the more slavery-heavy food production sectors.
