Boston, Cleveland, Washington Bid for 2014 Gay Games

Three U.S. cities have submitted official proposals to host the 2014 Gay Games, and they're all locales in the East. Boston, Cleveland and Washington will all be considered to host the games, which were founded in 1986.
Which city has the edge?
Organizers aren't saying, but if you look at this article from On Top magazine, it looks like Cleveland may be leading the pack. Cleveland organizers even joined up with the International Gay Rodeo Association to say that if the Gay Games come to Ohio, they'll include rodeo as an official sport.
Landing the Gay Games could be an economic boon for either of these three cities. Organizers of the 2006 games, which were held in Chicago, estimated that the city brought in $50-$80 million in revenue by hosting the games. That amount of money would certainly help either of these three cities -- but perhaps none more so than Cleveland, which is listed as number two (behind Detroit) in the U.S. Census Bureau's list of the poorest big cities in the U.S.
For those keeping track, the 2010 Gay Games will be held in Cologne, Germany. Registration for the games is now officially open, as well.
