Breaking - Aid Worker Killed in Pakistan

by Michael Bear · 2008-11-12 10:23:00 UTC

An American aid worker and his driver were killed yesterday morning in Peshawar, Pakistan, as they drove to their office.  The Taliban have claimed responsibility

The aid worker has been identified as Stephen Vance of the NGO CHF International, which is working on a USAID-funded development program in the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas of Pakistan, near the Afghan border.

Though attacks against aid workers are relatively rare in Pakistan, they are all too common in neighboring Afghanistan, where 31 aid workers have been killed so far this year.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Vance's family, and his colleagues.
