Bush Honored For Trashing Reproductive Rights

George W. Bush is being honored by a Catholic group for his fantastic work against women's reproductive rights during the dark eight years of his presidency I'm trying to block out of my mind. (Apparently Rudy Giuliani's already succeeded in forgetting the major events.)

Can't say I'm surprised -- although I was hoping he'd head back to his ranch, play cowboy, and I'd never have to hear about him again.

Bush will be getting the award for his staunch opposition to potentially life-saving stem cell research, his anti-choice refusal to send federal funding overseas for any health-related work that might be sullied by providing abortion, and for blessing us with Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito. Oh -- and he declared National Sanctity of Human Life Day as a parting gift before giving up the White House to Obama.

As disappointing as some things are under the new administration -- I'm thinking health care reform -- this is a reminder of the fact that it's all sunshine and cotton candy compared to the Bush regime. After all, one of Obama's first actions was to rip away the global gag rule and start providing funding to groups that provide abortion services abroad.

Okay, enough Barack praise. Start standing up for women's health care, Obama! Just because Bush set the bar so very low doesn't mean you get to slack off.
