Cervical Cancer Needlessly Hits Developing World 80% Of The Time

The leading cause of cancer death in the developing world is highly preventable in the West. Eighty percent of 500,000 cervical cancer deaths occur in the developing world. The Star explains that screening methods exist for low-resource settings, explaining that "with the political will to fund and train healthcare workers, they could be made available." Local training for procedures that involve visual inspection followed by immediate surgery could save lives, whilst preventing the pain, stigma, and loneliness that comes with the cancer.
