Comment of the Week 6/27/09

This week's comment of the week is from Greg Goldgof, on the social media and health post. We liked the astute way he combined self-promotion and a comment on how to use social media. Here's the comment:

Social media is a good way to raise awareness and money for issues of global health. My friends and I at Oxford and Stanford are trying to start a nonprofit to bring emerging technologies in telemedicine to rural kenya. We were having a hard time raising money being the finalist and semifinalist in two prestigious competitions, but never quite breaking the barrier. Now we are turning to social media based competitions. We are currently in second place in a competition for $10k to fund our first telemedicine center to be located at  Olemila Nandi Hills VCT Center. Check it out: http://telemedicine-rural-kenya.blogspot.com/

If you think our idea has merit, vote for us and pass the link along :) Voting closes at the end of June.

Greg, please contact Mariam to tell her where you want your donation to go.
