Creative Action: Spotlight on Individual Activism for Darfur
Activism is, more often than not, all about increments--and every tiny step can add up to a huge leap. Every day, individuals devise creative ways to make a difference.

Marathoners Leo Babauta and Dan Clements, and triathlete Mark Hayward are working to raise $5000 to rebuild a school destroyed by bombings in Darfur. The athletes are part of an initiative organized by Train for Humanity--a non-profit that combines "fitness with social media and help empower people for social good while creating a humanitarian movement." The money will be donated to Darfur Peace and Development, a humanitarian relief organization founded by Darfurians, who originally built the now-destroyed school.
Natasha of Maw Books Blog dedicated the entire month of September to her "Reading and Blogging for Darfur" campaign. She recruited 58 other bloggers to join her cause, and raised $1136 through sponsors
who donated per page read and per blog post.
And sometimes activism is as easy as wearing a t-shirt. Take this 'tweet' by Twitter member xxdawlishxx : "i wear my "save darfur" shirt for gym& like 187432 ppl told me they went home& looked it up online today."
Taken together, small individual actions add up to form a movement.
How are you making a difference? Let me know about it!
