Daily Darfur: Kristof Teases about Tomorrow

Nick Kristof posted an intriguing preview of his Sunday column, which will call on the incoming Obama Administration to take tougher measures against Sudan:

"A lot of NGO’s will be horrified by my endorsement of tougher measures, some of them military, to press Sudan — such as those outlined as options by Ambassador Williamson. Sure, there are risks, and they can’t be empty bluffs. But after five years of this, the current approach has failed, and if the word genocide has any special meaning then it surely means that we do more than wring our hands. Robust steps like knocking out communications in Khartoum have to be accompanied by equally robust diplomacy, but together I think they have a chance of evicting President Bashir and improving the situation in Sudan."

I'll wait to fully respond until tomorrow, but my initials thoughts are, "YES. It's about time."
