Of 30 countries with similar per capita income, the US provides the fewest maternity benefits.  Without greater family leave policies and more equitable gender distribution of labor, women will continue to lag men professionally.  This Sunday is International Women's Day; wear red to protest the 22% global gender pay gap.

Good News! The House passed H.R. 1106!  Now on to the Senate, where the real corporate cronies await.  At the state level, legislatures (finally!) fight back against abusive lending practices.

Community policing and outreach programs slashed due to budget cuts; working-class and declining cities hit hardest.  Gee, if only we could find the resources to pay for the social programs we need...

Recently lost a loved one?  I hope they didn't leave any debt behind.  You might be on the hook for it.
