Edible Radio

If you've ever happened across an Edible Communities publication, you'll know what I'm talking about when I say that nothing would be better than more where they came from.

The free magazines, each targeted to one of the vast number of participating communities, are focused on local and sustainable farming, food-making and eating, offering a wealth of information about local food resources and celebrating the joys of delicious, wholesome local food.

So you can see why I was excited to learn that last week Edible Communities launched its own radio program, Edible Radio, with the tagline "broadcasting edible stories from local communities." According to the Edible Communities blog, host Kate Manchester, Publisher of Edible Santa Fe, started the series off just in time for Thanksgiving by interviewing Marjorie Bender of the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy about heritage turkeys.

I hope this doesn't mean Edible Communities will be discontinuing its great weekly podcast, available via the awesome Heritage Radio Network, which rotates hosts to talk to guests about all manner of local food issues. The more people we have on the airwaves talking about local food and all the frustrations and joys that accompany it, the better. It's back to our roots, back to the radio.
