The following video in today's 'perk' isn't specifically Fair Trade related, but I wanted to share it with you all anyway. I DID however find it through 100% Fair Trade coffee company, Just Coffee, so booyah.

Today is a momentous day. Today is the Inauguration Day of our 44th President, Barack Obama. It's not only momentous because he will be the first African-American President of the United States. But it is momentous because it will usher in a new era of change that the people have spoken for.

The video is of historian, Howard Zinn's 'The People Speak', which was inspired by his book A People's History of the United States and Voices of a People's History. The video shows "examples of resistance to social injustice throughout U.S. history [that will] inspire viewers to recognize the power of ordinary people to enact momentous change".

'The power of ordinary people to enact momentous change'. That is exactly what we are seeing today. The election of Barack Obama was also a vote for ourselves. We mobilized to elect change, now it is our turn to see to it that change happens and the only way to do that is if we, the people, speak.

Starting today, we will come together and turn that hope into action and make sure the new administration knows that it can no longer be business as usual. We will resist injustice not only in the U.S., but also around the globe and see to it that we are the change we want to see in the world.

Stay tuned and see what our hopes are for the Obama Administration in the Fair Trade world along with other issues we are all concerned with. For now, peep the video, be inspired and speak up.
