If you're like me, you like to spend your Sunday evenings watching conferences on Fair Trade on YouTube. Oscars on television? No thanks, I'm busy watching this. Last week, I mentioned a conference that the Fairtrade Foundation held to discuss the Fair Trade movement's role in supporting solutions to the global food crisis. Now, thanks to technology and the internet, the conference has been posted to the Fairtrade Foundation's YouTube channel for all (me) to see.

The videos showcase a variety of people who spoke at the conference including heads of state, members of the Fairtrade Foundation, journalists, Fair Trade producers, farmers and more. The conference was the first of its type, with a big player in the Fair Trade movement organizing a wide discussion about its role in tackling a global problem. It goes to show how far Fair Trade has come in finding real solutions to real problems. Geek out with me and take a peek at the videos.

Think back to about a year ago when there were about 30 countries where there was some form of food riots. At that point, those riots were making headline news. Now though, 9-10 months later, it is the rich world's recession that is grabbing the attention rather than the plight of the poor. - George Alagiah, Patron of the Fairtrade Foundation
