UPDATE: Bad news for Bengals fans, and fans of Feed the Children: Chad Ochocinco had a bad game and the Jets beat Cincinnati 24-14. His 28 yards earned $2,800 for hunger.

If football's not your game, here's a reason to cheer when the Cincinnati Bengals face the New York Jets in a playoff game today at 4:30 p.m. EST: for every yard that Bengals star wide receiver Chad Ochocinco gains, Degree deodorant will donate $100 to Feed the Children. Even better: they will match, dollar for dollar, any donation you make through Feb. 3, 2010.

Ochocinco, whose last name was Johnson before he had it legally changed to the Spanish words for his jersey number "85," is known for his showmanship. In the past he has been fined by the NFL for donning a sombrero after a touchdown, attempting to "bribe" a referee with a $1 bill during a game and wearing a mohawk on the field. His fans have taken to calling the super-strict NFL the "no fun league." Here's hoping any future exploits draw attention to the millions of hungry people in America.

Ochocinco has 1,047 yards in 16 games this season, so he should be able to bank some serious cash for Feed the Children. Degree will pony up for as long as Ochocinco and the Bengals are in the playoffs, so whatever it is you do to help your sports teams win -- lucky socks? face paint? eating an entire bag of Tostitos? -- start doing it now.
