No on Prop 8On Wednesday of this week, a revised lawsuit was submitted to the high court in San Francisco by SF City Attorney Dennis Herrera, listing a total of 15 California cities and counties urging the State's highest court to overturn the Election Day vote on Proposition 8.

The lawsuit challenging the ban was filed the day after the election (November 5- my 30th birthday!) on behalf of Los Angeles, San Francisco and Santa Clara County.  Since then, a gradual stream of cities and counties have added their names to the list, making for more than a dozen cities and counties, representing some 17 million people in the state.

Here's the total list of cities and counties urging the state to overturn Prop 8: (Counties) Alameda, Los Angeles, Marin, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz; (Cities) Fremont, Laguna Beach, Oakland, San Diego, Santa Cruz, Santa Monica and Sebastopol.

This lawsuit is one of three that will be heard by the Court.  The other two lawsuits challenging Proposition 8 were filed by seven same-sex couples and marriage equality groups.  The next important date in this legal battle is December 19, one week from today.  That's the date the proponents of Proposition 8 are supposed to file their defense of the measure with the Court.  Stay tuned....
