I've been pulling some late nights the past couple of days in order to get everything together for this here blog, leaving me tired during the day and constantly fueling up on coffee. So, it only made sense for me to share this article I came across today.

That's right. A Fair Trade Certified Energy Drink. I must admit, I'm not the biggest fan of energy drinks. I'm actually not a fan at all, but throw out Fair Trade in front of energy drink and you've colored me curious.

The drink is brought to you by Adina, a company that produces strictly Fair Trade and Organic certified beverages. They claim that while most (or maybe even all) energy drinks come chock full of artificial, junky chemicals, their new energy drinks are full of 'natural energy' from Fair Trade organic coffee beans and guarana. Side note: Did you know that guarana contains five times as much caffeine as coffee beans? Hmm. The more you know. They also claim that through a special technique, they are able to extract every bit of antioxidant power from the coffee beans and transfer them onto the drink and filling you up with tons and tons of antioxidants -- the equivalent of four servings of fruit per container.

Interesting. But even more interesting for me is that it's Fair Trade! I particularly enjoy Adina's take on the Fair Trade model. Their goal is to embrace the "Triple Bottom Line" approach to doing business by bringing you the "best-tasting drinks [they] can possibly brew up", striving to "create a balance between optimization of profitability, socially responsible business practices, and sustainability for sourcing the highest-quality natural ingredients".

Plus, they've got some great music. Dedicated to connect people beyond borders through juice and music. I like the sound of that.

So, while I'm still not a fan of energy drinks, I really am intrigued and willing to give this one shot.
