From granitegrok.comThe Not for Sale Campagin has launched an exciting new initiative called Free 2 Work, which rates certifies companies as slavery-free and requires them to do their part in ending slavery in corporate supply chains.  In order to become a Free 2 Work member, a company must take the following pledge:

  • To have zero tolerance for forced labor inside our company operation
  • To develop an anti-slavery corporate policy
  • To require all outsource suppliers and contractors to hold the same anti-slavery protocol
  • To ensure that the providers of source materials for our products comply with our anti-slavery protocols.
  • To monitor our company's compliance with all of the above, and responsibly address any violations.
  • In additon to certifying slavery-free companies, Free 2 Work maintains a watchlist of companies that are not complying with certain basic standards of supply-chain transparency.  So far, Nike is the only one on the list.

The site just launched, and is still a work in progress, but I am hopeful this will become a useful tool for conciencious consumers to help them buy goods made by free workers.
