Recruiting new organizations and partners for the Ideas for Change in America competition has kept us all here at Change.org pretty busy. Over 2,000 ideas have come in and I've been thrilled not only to feature some of the ideas for improving the social entrepreneurship movement, but to see how social entrepreneurs are leading the charge for innovation across the thirty odd categories of the competition. Folks like Chris Myers Asch, who is pushing an idea for a Public Service Academy, and Victor Roy, who is interested in a global health corps that would provide medicine but also train community health workers, are helping push the envelope of the competition. Those of you who haven't yet should head over to the Change.org/Ideas page and vote for your favorites.

In the meantime, there has been a flurry of great social entrepreneurship related content all across the web.

  • Social Entrepreneurship in China: Lessons from Beijing - Nick from the School for Social Entrepreneurs shares his thoughts about the common concerns faced by an emergent group of social innovators in China.
  • Necessity is the Mother of Social Innovation - Lucy Bernholz reflects on the year and hazards a few guesses about the social sector in 2009, including the increased opportunity of young people and the 'un-retired' generation, a decrease in traditional nonprofits but an increase in social enterprises, and the growth of new blended legal frameworks modeled on approaches like B Corporation.
  • GiveList - Marnie Webb and Allison Fine create a resource for helping you think about how to contribute, give back, and give differently this holiday season, with ideas streaming in frome Twitter and other social media sites.
  • 10 Lists of Holiday Gifts that Give Back - Britt Bravo provides her own lists of lists for the socially conscious holiday shopper.
