Good News Update: Citgo Restores Heating Oil Program

by Leigh Graham · 2009-01-08 09:18:00 UTC

Hugo Chavez, courtesy of AP/Miraflores Press OfficeCitgo has reversed its decision to suspend its free heating oil program for low-income households in the U.S., citing the suspension as a "PR goof."   It's aim this winter is to provide up to 100 gallons of free oil per home for up to 200,000 low-income households and Native American tribes in 23 states.

This article in The Boston Globe also includes information on state and other non-profit heating assistance programs in Massachusetts and presumably elsewhere.

Sounds like this was a lot of political chest-bumping among executive dudes - Joe Kennedy publicly cornering Hugo Chavez to resume his stance of flouting his "humanitarian aid" to America's poor in the face of that "devil," George W. Bush, low-income hater.

Whatever it takes, I say.  This is great news!!
