Good Sources for Palestinian News and Opinion
It's not hard to find out what's going on in Palestine, but here the US news from Israel definitely predominates. Here's a roundup of some great sites - visit them and vastly improve your right-of-return street cred.
Palestinian News Network. Today's headline: Palestinian MKs call to halt attacks inside Israeli boundaries. This is in reference to violence in the Israeli town of Acre (Akko) directed at Palestinian Israelis.
The American Palestine Public Affairs Forum. This is the newsiest little nonprofit you never heard of before. The current issue is here. There isn't much direct editorial voice, and the news items come from all over. One item: apparently, some fear a Hamas takeover of the West Bank in a repeat of what happened in Gaza.
International Middle East Media Center. This includes many local news items from Palestine that might not appear elsewhere. One lead story details the start of the olive harvest, and the problem of settler violence against the harvesters.
Finally (for today) here is the site of the Palestinian Media Center of the General Secretariat of the Palestine Liberation Organization. (whew, that's a mouthful!). The most amusing story is about how the smuggling tunnels between Gaza and Egypt are going legit; those who register with Hamas and promise to pay the workers appropriately will get electricity and other benefits from the Gaza administration.
Did I miss one of your favorite Palestinian news sources? We can do this again!
