GOP Uses Abortion As A Prop To Derail Health Care Reform

NARAL put out this video to share the scare tactics being used by Republicans to stall Health Care reform with language about abortion to motivate it's pro-life base.

Watch the video and then realize how much of this "talk" by GOP politicians is completely staged - and has been part of the strategy for Republicans the entire time as a means to destabilize the passage of the health care bill. Remember what Change.org Universal Health Care blogger, Tim Foley, told me last week?

The word "abortion" was never mentioned in the original draft of the bill, but the language was inserted to specifically prohibit it.

So when you think about it, it becomes clear that the insertion of that language was meant to work in favor of the Republican strategy to rally it's base, create the crazed protests at these town halls and make the health care reform entirely about the abortion debate. From where I stand, the Republicans aren't really about reducing the number of abortions - if they were they'd be talking about contraception and comprehensive sex education. What they are really interested in is just winning. And abortion is their Hail Mary pass in trying to defeat Obama's health care plan that can help millions of Americans.
