Greening the World, At What Cost?

A green world won't necessarily make a safe world. Reducing our dependence on oil is undoubtedly a good thing, but the potential subsequent requirement of other resources like lithium for batteries may be the cause of other conflicts suggests Foreign Policy magazine. They present some potential surprises that the transition to a greener economy could throw up, though it's clear these are preferable to the best-case-scenario climate change disaster

In terms of agriculture, the potential for "Water Wars" and the huge water requirement for oxymoronic "Clean Coal," could make water a substantially more costly resource. Not so good for dealing with crops being grown in an climatically volatile world.
