A few months back, I mentioned Oikocredit's Photo Competition asking amateur photographers to capture Fair Trade in their world. So, update #2 for the day -- Oikocredit picked a winner. It's Tim van der Ark from the Netherlands and his Fair Trade chocolate.

The winner of the photo competition, Tim van der Ark from the Netherlands, entered the competition with a picture of himself eating fair trade chocolate sprinkles. The jury selected this picture because of its technical quality and the originality of the picture. Decisive, though, was the way he pictured the joy of eating a quality fair trade product. He commented the picture with the words: "In my eyes it's logical to buy fair trade. Why shouldn't farmers be paid a fair price? We all want to enjoy our lives."

The goal of the competition was to raise awareness of Fair Trade and the importance of fair financing. The lucky van der Ark is now going to get to see the impact of Fair Trade for his own when he visit the Conocado cacao cooperative in the Dominican Republic.

Um, the second place winning entry is looking a little risque, no?  Sex sells, but only gets second place. Check out the rest of the winner and some honorable mentions at the Oikocredit site.
