I'm Baaaaaaack!

I'm back in the saddle, after returning from far-off adventures --- or at least, trying to climb back up, and sort through world events (and, good lord, mountains of email) from the two and a half weeks I spent cut off from modern civilization. Though judging by watching CNN, the only thing that happened was the untimely death of the King of Pop. (Rest in peace, Michael.)

I missed a lot on the Darfur front, it seems. The world finally started paying more attention to egregious violations of human rights in Sudan, the US hosted a conference on the Comprehensive Peace Agreement here in DC, Sudanese elections were postponed yet again, a new alliance between Darfuri rebels and a Sudanese opposition party declared Bashir's government illegitimate, and, of course, violence continued.

Many, many thanks to Martha for holding down the fort while I was away --- she's quite an adept blogger, and should do it much more often. (No pressure.) It makes me rest easier knowing that I can disappear for a few weeks and leave the blog in such capable hands. There's no one I would trust more to do it.

Back to it.
