Image of the Week: Activist Art

by Shannon Moriarty · 2009-01-05 11:07:00 UTC

Don't you love those days when you stumble across a little gem on the web? Something so cool you just have to share it?

Well, today the internet gods were smiling upon me. I discovered Just Seeds, a self-described "visual resistance artists' cooperative." According to the website, they "believe in the power of personal expression in concert with collective action to transform society."

Even better, their powerful posters, prints, books, and postcards are available for purchase at a price that won't break the bank for a nonprofit employee. [Be still my heart.]

This image is by artist Chris Stain and is available for purchase on Just Seeds.

If you'd like to learn more about the intersection between social activism and personal expression, check out the Just Seeds blog or Groundswell.

Shannon Moriarty has worked in various homeless shelters and service organizations around the country. She is a graduate student studying housing and urban policy at Tufts University.
