In a Florida Car or a NJ Locker: Unnecessary Death Stinks Everywhere

A county intentionally endangers the life of a dog in an attempt to prove it wasn't responsible for the death of another dog in its care. A famed football player kills an innocent animal in order to play a prank on a buddy, and everyone thinks it's hilarious, as if killing an animal is no worse than (and just as funny as) tying some guy's shoes together. I'm not seeing much logic or compassion at play in either of these cases. Neither are a couple of PETA bloggers.

Love PETA or hate PETA, the group's blog featured two posts worth mentioning today:

Reenactment Performed to See if Heat Kills Dogs? Are You Kidding?!
PETA has an action page up for this one.

Dear Brett Favre: Please Retire from Hunting. Love, PETA.
I hope you didn't have any previous fondness for Favre. You'll have a hard time holding on to it after reading this.

And the New York Times story gives us the response from Favre's teammate Alan Faneca to a question about how this reflects on Favre's ability to fit in with the Jets: "He likes to have a good time and joke around and have fun while you’re doing it. That’s the way we should be doing things out here.” Killing an innocent being. Just for laughs. Right. That's how you should be doing things.

Way to be lighthearted and not at all critical about the whole thing, by the way, NYT. I especially like this bit: "The latest victim [of Favre's notorious locker pranks]? Barton." I beg to differ about who the victim was.
