Innovation Watch: Donate your status to getting out the vote on Facebook

If you're on Facebook, you've likely noticed a bunch of your friends "donating their status" to getting out the vote on Tuesday.

The "Donate your status" message comes from Causes' "Election Rally on Facebook" program, which so far has almost 130,000 registered. The awesome little system allows you to select how frequently you want to update your status and shows you how many times your friends will get the message based on how many times you update.

Veritable nonprofit social media blogger Beth Kanter wrote about this yesterday and nails it: "This type of interaction design is perfect on facebook - doesn't require donation, easy to install and spread.  And, I think once you've installed it, you don't get a million invitations - or at least I haven't yet."
