Introducing the Global Health Blog Team

by Alanna Shaikh · 2009-05-29 10:36:00 UTC

(Clockwise: Mariam, Mara,  Incia, Me, and Michael, and Lillian)

I'm the face you see most often on this blog, but we've been quietly expanding the team. It's not just me anymore. You now have a group of five people to meet your global health information needs. We're going to be writing interesting posts, highlighting new ways to contribute to global health, and building this community.

In addition to me, we've got three regular guest bloggers who you've already met. Michael Keizer writes every Monday on health and human rights, from his background as a logistician and global health professional. (and I've spoken to him on skype and can guarantee he's not actually a zebra mussel) Lillian Gu does the Sunday round-up posts and tackles tricky topics like the Obama global health budget. Mara Gordon's been offering views from the field.

Starting on Monday, we will also have a community support team. Incia Zaffar will be researching and developing new ways we can take action to improve global health. She's got a background in international affairs and online social action, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with. Mariam Mostamandy will be supporting community development on this site. She'll be encouraging interesting conversation, hunting for new guest bloggers, and getting to know the regulars around here.

At this point, I'd like to thank Lillian, Mara, and Michael for everything they do, and welcome Incia and Mariam. Michael and Mara have field experience from places I have never been. Lillian has a knack for telling me what posts didn't work and I should never write again, and figuring out which ones people really liked. Incia and Mariam, thanks for coming on board! I think we're going to go some very interesting places with this community.
