Is Agribusiness Reform Tougher Than Healthcare Reform?

Michael Pollan argues in a New York Times op-ed that even the most efficient and fair healthcare system will struggle to face the incredibly costly obesity crisis. He claims that reform of the food industry will be much harder than reform of the healthcare industry, simply because people already realize the current healthcare system is completely unsustainable. But not enough people realize that food production and consumption is a similarly troubling problem.
Washington needs to step up to challenge the food industry, Pollan demands. He explains that the healthcare industry could do as they've done with their campaigns against smoking and support soda taxes, work to reform school lunches, and campaign to reduce our dependence on processed foods. It's essential, it will save billions of dollars, and it will help millions lead healthier lives. We can do all that and leave a healthier planet too.
