What better time to gear up for the weekend (and the upcoming St. Patrick's Day bash you might be attending) than with an Espresso Amber Ale. Peak Organic in Maine are making Fair Trade beer lovers in the area happy with this beer made with locally-roasted Fair Trade Certified espresso beans from Coffee by Design. A truly local, community affair coming together for a common Fair Trade cause. According to the brewers at Peak Organic, the beer is a "flavorful, robust ale with toasty notes from the espresso in the front palate that delicately compliment the sweeter notes from the malts in the back palate".

I've talked about a beer made with Fair Trade coffee before in a previous Fair Trade Happy Hour installment. So, as far as I know there are two Fair Trade beers on the market. Higher Grounds beer and now Peak Organic. Now, all they have to do is ship it over to the West Coast and I am set.

[beer photo from GreenLAGirl, who had a great quote about the beer, "If you like to make your fair trade coffee Irish, I’m guessing you’ll like your beer made fair trade too!"]
