Jesus Loves Porn Stars...

...that's the message that the fast growing XXX Church, which bills themselves as "The #1 Christian Porn Site", is trying to impart to the adult industry in Las Vegas.  Apparently, they're not counting Ted Haggart's personal Google searches in that rating....

A few years ago, a Pastor named Craig Gross was thinking of ways he could tackle the $97 billion a year porn industry, and offer people in adult industries a chance to learn about Christianity.  So he came up with a brilliant plan- instead of trying to get porn stars to come to church, bring church to the porn stars.  Since then, he and the rest of the team at XXX Church have been going to porn and adult industry conventions and distributing Bibles and holding church services.

But XXX Church doesn't stop there.  With the help of Pete the Porno puppet and porn star Ron Jeremy, they've been trying warn children of the dangers of pornography and the porn industry, which is one of the primary techniques traffickers use to entrap and groom children.  They also offer resources for people wrestling with sexual addiction (with a special section for Pastors!)

The way I see it, you can look at what XXX Church is doing in two ways.  On one hand, you could argue that they're pushing their religion on people who aren't interested in it.  And that might be a fair assessment.  On the other hand, you could argue that they're doing exactly what Jesus would have done today- hang out with the people society casts aside and disrespects, and offer them love and hope.  And considering that about 20% of pornography on the internet features a child (most of whom are trafficking victims), the chances that they'll encounter someone who really needs their help is high.

The verdict: Jesus loves porn stars, and so do I!
