Jobs for Change

Just a quick one, that we're launching a new part of the site today - Jobs for Change.  The goal is to help recruit a new generation of leaders into the nonprofit, government, and social enterprise sectors.

Jobs for Change includes not only job listings, but also career advisors and answers to frequently-asked job questions.

For additional information about how to find a job in the humanitarian sector, please see:

- Finding a Job Overseas - including a survey of folks working overseas about how they found their first job

- This series of posts by Transitionland about how best to apply for jobs - including information about internships and networking - is also incredibly useful

- My global health co-blogger Alanna Shaikh recently posted about the five essential things to have any hope of getting a job in international development.  Chris Blattman then added a few thoughts to the list

- Working World: Careers in International Education, Exchange, and Development is also a great resource

- Finally, if you're curious about how much aid workers actually earn, see here

Granted, it's a brutal time to try and find a job overseas.  As with almost everything, the key is persistence.  It took me almost a year to find my first job in the field; a year of unreturned emails and phone calls, not to mention a rather brutal number of rejections.

Getting overseas might not happen quickly - it probably won't happen quickly - but it's definitely possible.  Someone, somewhere, is always hiring.
