Actress Kiera Knightly, as part of Women's Aid, stars in a new video about domestic violence, where she plays a woman not unlike herself.  Here's the video, with comments after the break.

A lot of human trafficking situations begin as domestic violence and abusive or coercive relationships.  A boyfriend who has been beating and raping his girlfriend begins to pimp her out to make some extra money.  A man marries and moves himself and his wife to the U.S., brutalizing her if she does not cook and clean for him and his whole extended family.  An uncle "holds" his young nephew's wages from the family business, never turning over a penny.  Domestic violence and trafficking are sometimes overlapping and connected.  It's easier to trust a spouse, partner or family member and harder to leave and abusive situation when the abuser is someone you care about.  Cases of trafficking/domestic violence are often the most complex, because of the love the victims have for their abusers and the fear they have of leaving.  Props to Kiera Knightly for giving her time and talent to this important issue.
