I leave Thursday morning for the Animal Rights 2009 National Conference, and I can't wait to see animal-friendly faces from all over the country and beyond when I arrive in Los Angeles (my pal Michelle over at Vegan Break feels the same way; check out her enthusiastic video about the conference). If you're within day-trip distance of LA, remember that beyond signing up for the full conference (or just weekend portion), you can also stop in and experience some of the conference for free:

Visitors are encouraged to drop by Friday, Saturday and Sunday (9am-6pm) to enjoy our 90+ free exhibits, including compassionate shopping, delicious snacks & desserts, and amazing social justice organizations. One free session is also included, so bring your friends, stay for a meal, and make a day out of it!

After the jump are a few of the latest updates from the conference organizers at FARM (see the full update here):

  • Most Important - Our discounted room block at the Westin LAX is sold out! A few rooms have been made available but you must contact our event manager directly at 310-417-4506. If you do not have a room yet, please call immediately. You can also use our Travel and Lodging Boards to facilitate sharing and cost-savings. Contact us by Tuesday if there are still problems.
  • Saturday Night Awards Banquet tickets - Last chance to pre-purchase and save!
  • The Awards Banquet is a great way to relax and connect with other attendees. Enjoy our delicious cuisine featuring an incredible entrée from our long-time supporter, Match Meats Vegan Gourmet. The exceptional $30 price is for the meal and banquet service. The price is $35 on-site so buy by Tuesday and save!

After dinner and entertainment, enjoy the awards ceremony and our fast and fabulous live auction fundraiser. Click here for celebrity bios & auction prizes.

Attendees may join the presentation after dinner at 7pm at no charge. Guests (who are not registered for the conference) may attend for only $50. Dress-up or go casual. A cash bar will be available.

Tickets MUST be pre-purchased. Some tickets will be available on-site before Friday noon, but NOT on Saturday as we need to provide the hotel a count. Thank you, we appreciate your support in pre-purchasing banquet tickets.

  • Our Exhibitors List is updated with lots of new and exciting groups, food vendors, vegan stores and more. Exhibits are open Friday-Sunday until 6pm... shop early (so you get the good stuff) and shop often (so you get the stuff you missed the first time). Exhibitors go through a lot of trouble and expense to be there and they help make our conference great!
  • Our Fast Facts/Overview page is updated and perfect for easy reference and sharing with friends! Get details about our $6/day parking and much much more! Did I mention friends? Don't be shy... the conference is life-changing for people and life-saving for animals... please spread the word... the exhibits and one-day session before 5pm are free!
  • You don't need to wait for the printed program though... the Final Program & Video Schedule are online. And it's not too late to extend your stay. Make arrangements to stay through Monday for intensive trainings and off-site demos!
