Late Night Sweet Tooth

After having a late dinner, all I want is a late night snack and the first thing that comes to mind is ice cream. If it's not San Francisco's own It's It ice cream sandwiches, it's most definitely something from Ben and Jerry's. I was at an event a few months back and the ice cream men were present and when I was dancing next to Ben (yes, that Ben), I had to refrain myself from telling him my favorite flavors.

Looking for a socially responsible corporation? Ben and Jerry's is where it's at. They promote peace, crusade against global warming, work with grassroots organizations to eliminate environmental and social problems and the sourcing of their ingredients is led by their values. That's right. Fair Trade flavors like Vanilla, Chocolate and Coffee. Even cooler (pun not intended) is in the UK, their Chunky Monkey ice cream is made using Fair Trade bananas from the El Guabo cooperative in Ecuador. The same co-op that works with Oke USA.

Check out Hugo Rocafuerte, president of the association, speak about his experiences with Fair Trade and also see him accepting a gift of the final product his bananas were used for -- Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream. Full circle! Ah, the people to people connection. It always gets me.
