McDonald's Greenwashes its Restaurants

McDonald's is continuing to experiment with increasingly environmentally friendly restaurants that conserve energy, harvest rainwater from the roof, and use sophisticated lighting and recycling systems at a new location in Santa Ana. This sounds like a measure intended primarily to cut costs, dressed up a green innovation. It's where the burgers and chicken nuggets come from that I'm most interested in, but it's important to get the packaging right too. At least McDonald's is starting to think that their consumers care about sustainability and responsibility — hopefully they'll be brave enough to experiment by expanding these positive steps to their menus in coming months.
Meanwhile, PETA repeats negative references to overweight people in an anti-McDonald's ad starring Andy Dick, after last week's disastrous "Lose the Blubber: Go Vegetarian" ads.
