Miss California has Jumped the Shark

Miss California

OK, you know it's getting ridiculous when conservative lawmakers are introducing legislative acts to commemorate Miss California for her outspokenness on gay marriage.

All eyes turn toward Alabama, where - and I'm not making this up - State Rep. Jay Love has introduced a measure in Alabama's House of Representatives to congratulate Miss California, Carrie Prejean, for her anti-same-sex marriage views. Rep. Love is pleased that Miss California was willing to openly preach marriage discrimination over the national airwaves, and sacrifice winning the Miss USA pageant for her convictions.

Despite what Fox News is saying, Miss California didn't lose the crown because she's against gay marriage.  Maybe she lost the crown because she answered the question in a way that had me remembering the time someone asked Britney Spears what she thought about the Iraq War.  But it's not like there's a litmus test for Miss USA.

If I was a voter in Alabama, I'd be having a "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore" moment.  Is this really what we pay politicians to do?
