Momentum for Marriage Equality in Jersey

New Jersey

New Jersey residents believe that the time is right for marriage equality.  The proof?

A new poll out today by Monmouth University/Gannett shows that 48 percent of New Jersey residents favor same-sex marriage, while only 43 percent oppose it.  Moreover, the poll shows that 50 percent of the state oppose any effort to amend the state constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

These numbers, coupled with a bipartisan commission's study in 2008 that said New Jersey's civil unions law is inadequate to marriage, are reason enough for New Jersey lawmakers to move forward with legalizing same-sex marriage.
