13-year-old Alexis Glover was found in a freezing creek early in January, two days after she had been reported missing by her mother, Alfreedia Gregg-Glover. According to police, Gregg-Glover allegedly "dumped her adopted daughter—who was possibly still alive—in [the] freezing creek and then made up a story about the girl running away," today's Inside NoVa reports. Alexis is said to have had "severe autism and sickle cell anemia." Police think that Alexis may have had some kind of medical emergency on the morning of January 7 and that Gregg-Glover "did not get her proper medical attention." Gregg-Glover was released from jail on Monday after the Prince William Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court granted her a $5,000 bond on the child neglect charge.

Whatever happened or didn't happen here, it's too late to help Alexis Glover. Why didn't Gregg-Glover ask for help?
