New Hampshire is Poised to Become #6

UPDATE: New Hampshire Governor John Lynch has signed the bill! Welcome to the marriage equality club, New Hampshire.
HRC's Backstory is reporting that New Hampshire's legislature has just approved legislation that will allow NH to become the sixth state in the country to recognize marriage equality. Here's the scoop from HRC:
After reaching a compromise on religious liberty language over the weekend, the marriage equality bill passed both houses of the state legislature today and now goes to Governor John Lynch for his signature. The state Senate passed the bill this morning 14-10 and the state House just now 198-176.
The Governor has essentially pledged to sign this into law, since it reflects language that he specifically wanted included addressing religious liberty and same-sex marriage. On the charts, this now means that Rhode Island becomes the only New England state with marriage discrimination still on the books. Tsk, tsk, Rhode Island.
But an early congratulations to New Hampshire, who if Governor Lynch follows through with his promise, will be the next state to recognize marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples.
