Nickelodeon Teaches Kids to Spy on Women and Shoot Kittens
The Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood recently awarded Nickelodeon a TOADY (Toy Oppressive And Destructive to Young children) award for its addictinggames.com website.
The website features a wide variety of games perfectly designed to be educational for children! Kids can play "Perry The Sneak," where they get points for catching glimpses of naked women in the shower and score mega-bonuses for getting the women to sleep with them.
Or they can try their hand at "Tigers Revenge," where they have to protect Tiger Woods from "bimbos, strippers, and cocktail waitresses" and also, from his wife: "watch out for Elin! She swings a wicked 5 iron and has plenty of reasons to tee off ... on her hubby's horny head!" Cute, no? And so fitting for your five-year-old! But in case the exploitation of women isn't your kid's thing quite yet, he or she can also shoot a kitten out of a cannon with the "make Fluffy bloody" game.
Well jeez, that certainly sounds like some of the family-friendly entertainment Nickelodeon is always peddling. Maybe that's why the company links to addictinggames.com from Nick.com, NickJr.com, and Neopets.com, its websites specifically designated for children.
And since Nickelodeon obviously has such a sharp understanding of the educational and psychological benefits for kids in games like "Go to Hell" and "Stick Dude Killing Arena" and "Barnville Massacre" (where there's a "sweet gun store" to help you on your shooting spree of farm animals) or "Karoshi Suicide Salaryman" (where you can help a Japanese businessmen find alternate ways to kill himself), it's kept the links to the game site on its websites for children despite the protest of over 4,000 parents who've asked the company to remove them.
Please sign the petition asking Nickelodeon to remove the links to its abhorrent games from websites intended for children! And spread the word that this company, which paints itself as your friendly fuzzy neighborhood playground, is also encouraging kids to massacre animals and go on shooting sprees.
