Not for Kids: Lego Pole Dancer

Gizmodo is featuring a Lego creation attributed only to someone named Andrew, which appears to be a model of a Middle Earth brewery featuring.... a Lego stripper!  Here's a short video of the non-nude plastic dancer in action, spinning around a tiny plastic pole:

While it's important to note that a kit to make this model beer-and-sex establishment is not actually available from Lego's website, this creation is emblematic of a widespread cultural belief: women in strip clubs all chose to be strippers.  While some women choose freely to dance in strip clubs, the widespread belief that that choice is the norm ignores the fact that many women in strip clubs or nude dancing establishments are in fact trafficking victims.  This belief also allows people to objectify and abuse these women more easily, assuming they signed up for the whole stripper package, including rape, forced prsotitution, drug use, beatings and death.   Human trafficking in strip clubs is a huge problem in the U.S., especially for the many young girls (14, 15 and 16 years old) who are trafficked into the industry.  It's really not fodder for toys.

I'd like to give some advice to Andrew (and all the other plastic-pole-dancer enthusiasts out there): women do not want to date men who make models of Middle Earth breweries with drunk knights and plastic pole dancers!  Please channel your creative energy somewhere else.
