A brief dispatch from AR2009 before I grab some dinner:

I just came from a session where pattrice jones was among the panelists. Some readers may recall multiple mentions of and links to pattrice and her work over the last several months (perhaps most notably in the posts "On Being More Than an (Animal Rights) Activist" and "The Rescuing of Roosters--Even the 'Fighters'"). And there's good reason for this: she does admirable, important work on multiple fronts.

Hers was one of the sessions this weekend that I knew I not only wanted to attend but truly needed to attend. If ever you get the chance to hear pattrice speak, take it. You won't regret it. But in the meantime, if you want at least an idea of what she covered today, check out the following archived post, which she has linked to today on her blog SuperWeed: "Nurturing Activism."

More tomorrow!
