Pat Robertson's Disgusting Comments on Haiti

Pat RobertsonMost of Port-au-Prince, Haiti has been destroyed by the massive 7.0 earthquake that struck the country yesterday. But instead of honoring those that have died, or calling on the world community to shower Haiti with relief and emergency support, television evangelist Pat Robertson used his show today to blame Haiti for bringing on the earthquake themselves.

Tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of people may have just perished in what relief organizations have characterized as a major catastrophe that brought down buildings from the UN Mission to the National Palace. But for Robertson, natural disasters just don't occur in a vacuum. They occur because of God's wrath.

"Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it," Robertson said on his television show, The 700 Club. "They were under the heel of the French ... and they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, 'We will serve you if you'll get us free from the French.' True story. And the devil said, 'OK, it's a deal.' Ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after another."

Enough is enough.

When Pat Robertson isn't blaming terrorism on feminists or gays, he's busy blaming natural disasters on cuckoo religious visions that suggest Haitians brought the earthquake on themselves by playing with Satan.

Talk about fostering violence and destruction. If just one person believes the ridiculous commentary offered by Robertson and refuses to give to international relief efforts to help the country during this time of crisis and emergency, then there's gotta be a hot place in the afterlife for the crew at The 700 Club. Talk about using religion in a monstrously bad way.
