For all you San Francisco Fair Traders! In tandem with Fair Trade Month, the Bay Area Fair Trade Coalition and the San Francisco Bike Coalition are teaming up to promote Fair Trade and Bicycling as part of a healthy and sustainable commute.

Inspired by the successful Bike to Work Day, the SFBC has started a new campaign called Gas Free Fridays calling out for people for declare their independence from oil by choosing a more sustainable commute like bicycling. In San Francisco, where most driving trips are less than 2 miles in length, we're asking you to hop on your bike and go.

Every Friday for the month of October there will be energizer stations all over the city where bikers alike can gather and fuel up on Fair Trade Certified snacks like snack bars, coffee, tea and even bananas. Sustainability is the name of the game this whole month and two ways toward that goal is through supporting Fair Trade that promotes sustainability in the production of goods and through choosing a sustainable commute like hopping on your bicycle and cruising.

Those in other cities can also join in on the good fun by finding out more information here. Great way to gear up for Fair Trade and get the community involved.
